As you may know, there has been a challenging 2020 for the trucking industry, and this trend seems to be continuing into early 2021. We have recently surveyed truck drivers to try and identify the lack of trucks on the market. The short supply of trucks and truck drivers has driven the prices to record numbers for numerous lanes and different transportation types. Among the factors that have caused this disparity, we identified: the pandemic, which forced the closure of truck stops and rest areas in several states and increases the demand for essential goods, the truck equipment, and maintenance issues, and the inadequate logistics (fleet operation, load planning, delays, and route challenges).
